As a singer, songwriter, actor, producer and YouTube star, Kyler Fisher’s fulfillment in life could easily be found in his creative pursuits. But being a family man has always ranked highest for the Boise, Idaho native. He learned firsthand the importance of family from his beloved father who set a lasting example of finding the tricky balance between work and home life.

With his wife Madison and their children (twin daughters Taytum and Oakley, daughter Halston and son Oliver), Fisher’s role as a full-time family man has garnered a worldwide audience through the family’s popular YouTube channel, The Fishfam. The channel boasts over four million subscribers with loyal fans clamoring for the Fisher’s slice-of-life videos and positive outlook. “All I want to focus on is my family,” says Fisher. “For the most part it’s just us, just our family and interaction with our kids. It gets stressful at times, but we love what we do. It’s given us wings to fly in other areas.”

One of those areas is Fisher’s lifelong love of country music. As a kid in Idaho, Fisher learned to sing and play guitar while listening to his favorite artists. “Country music is a passion of mine,” he says. “It tells the best and most meaningful stories.”

Who were your favorite artists to cover as you learned to sing and play guitar?

Growing up, I was a John Mayer cover guy, despite the country lane I love. It’s actually been fun watching John Mayer switch lanes over the years and mess around with other genres. I would mess around with his songs.

“I feel this responsibility to live a life like my dad lived. He was very diligent and trustworthy and loyal. He was a very good man. I want to retain his legacy and be the kind of dad he was for me.” A favorite childhood memory with your father?

My favorite childhood memories were just throwing the baseball around with my Dad or playing basketball on our home court in the front yard. Nobody could hit free throws like my dad could. He never missed. I hope I never miss out on opportunities like this with my son, Oliver.

What drew you to acting? Favorite role to date and why?

I haven’t played a ton of roles. To be honest, I have produced more films than I have actually played in. However, I am currently working on another full length feature right now that I can’t disclose, but I will be playing a lead role in starting in October.

Starting with Instagram accounts that chronicled your courtship, engagement and marriage in 2011. Three years later you two were still trying to make ends meet as actors when your accounts started to see the numbers of followers increase. What do you think originally connected others to your posts?

I think social media was so new at that point and there wasn’t really any clear direction for anyone where it would end up and how amazing it would be monetarily, but when we had kids, we decided we always wanted to be with them every minute of the day, so we made a family business out of it. All my kids are absolutely perfect and beautiful (according to dad, of course) and people are drawn to them and how interesting it is to have these three girls interact with each other and now adding a boy into the mix, it’s all even more interesting!

You and your wife Madison started a family vlogging channel after welcoming twins Taytum and Oakley. How have you balanced parenting with increasing your presence on YouTube and TikTok?

Parenting is much easier when you can be there for your kids. We are definitely there for our kids, sometimes too much because we are with them 24/7. Some may think it’s not good to have our kids on the Internet and to that I say, “Get ready!” We live in a day and age where it is the standard. We just so happen to be ahead of the game, in some respects. I love that I get to spend time with my family every single day doing what we enjoy doing, but together, always!

When did you realize you had become influencers on social media?

I think you are an influencer from the day you start. If you are growing a following with intent to make it a career and you are being a good example you are influencing people. It doesn’t matter what you consider yourself nowadays. Country music star, actor, etc…anyone with a following is classified as an influencer because they are influencing people. LOL I actually hate the word and the category. You can do whatever you want these days, it’s 2020, baby! YEEEHAWW

With the addition of Halston and Oliver, what are your plans for the future posts with the children?

Don’t fix what isn’t broken! We are having fun! The train is moving for the whole family!

How does the video for “Stay At Home” capture your family’s story?

We have reached the point in our career where we’re not in search of anything other than more time with each other. It’s all we care for. We just want to be together, even if it means sitting around and not doing much. At the end of the day, that’s where our true happiness lies, with us as a family.

“Room To Breathe”. You said, “This new song supports those who yearn for this, for those who want to be free from bondage.” How has the child boredom pandemic affected your family?

Honestly, it’s been really bad for our kids. They want to get out, go to Disneyland, go to the parks, go to school, the grocery store with Dad, gymnastics, dance and go on a trip to get away. My kids, even at such a young age, are sick of it. They want to live. I ain’t beatin’ around the bush, here, this whole thing is blown out of the proportion in the media. Take your vitamins kids, let’s get back to LIFE!

Enjoying a full spa day, courtesy of your wife. A great idea within the limitations of the quarantine. What would you plan for her and the children to have their own special days?

My wife deserves nothing more than that! She is incredible. She pulls WAY more weight than I do with the house and kids. A spa day for her with pure silence, nails, hair, massage, everything under the sun. Go, Hunny! I got this!

“A Little Like Me” is such a beautiful song for your newborn Oliver. If you were to write a song from your perspective for your father, a role reversal from this song, what would you say to him?

Talking about my father in this way is very personal because he passed 4 years ago in July. I have plans to write that song…so you are just going to have to wait and revisit!

What message do you hope your fans take away from your posts and songs?

I hope for them to know me as an honest man who loves his God and his family and tells the truth. Honestly, I want my fans to know Jesus Christ because they know me, if that makes sense. I want to be an example of him at all times.
