Oklahoma native. If you were to show a first-time visitor around your hometown, where would you take them?

I would take them to the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, a beautiful park filled with streams, lakes, and natural springs. Highlights include the serene Lake of the Arbuckles, where I learned to water ski, and Little Niagara, where I used to jump from the waterfalls. The park also offers beautiful hiking trails and is a unique habitat, home to species found only in both the eastern and western United States.

Raised by a family of music teachers. Why is music education important and how does it impact society?

In the Bible, musicians were held in such high esteem that they resided in the king’s palace. Music education not only preserves but drives the evolution of music. My mother and grandmother were music teachers, sharing their knowledge with many famous country musicians. My grandmother taught Jimmy Webb, the songwriter behind several Glen Campbell classics like “Wichita Lineman,” By the Time I Get to Phoenix, and “MacArthur Park.” My mother taught Roger Miller, an 11-time Grammy Award winner.

“Music is the most powerful mover in the world.” Influenced by artists like Crystal Gayle, Barbara Mandrell, Tammy Wynette, Cher, and Diana Ross. Favorite line from a song of one of these artists and why?

I’ll take Barbara Mandrell because my co-writer Dennis Morgan, who is 100-time platinum, wrote the words “I’m just glad we are in a country where we are all free to choose” from the song “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool,” written by Morgan and Kye Fleming in Nashville.

Introducing Amy Jack, debut album, was produced by country music legend and GRAMMY-Award winning artist Merle Haggard. “Merle taught me the value in being honest.” How did Haggard help you perfect your sound?

By hearing his example, clarity, phrasing, warmth, feeling, and expression.

I was thinking of my co-writer, Remington, a great artist, writer, and producer. I was thinking about our song “Dallas Until I Die,” televised on Fox Sports and the NFL Network. I thought he was the biggest thing in Dallas.

How did you choose the cover art for your new song?

A lion is the biggest game in town, king of the jungle and fears nothing.

“What’s the biggest thing in your life right now? Focus on that and find new ways to grow.” What are your musical goals for the next year?

To have a song in a movie and to have a hit song!

“Sundays call for trips to the best Farmers Markets around town.” With the holiday fast approaching, what are some of your favorite Thanksgiving side dishes?

One is broccoli, cheese, and cracker casserole. Second is the green bean casserole, especially because of the mushroom soup.
