Feel Good News: Double Amputee Teen Surprised by Russell Dickerson with New Accessible SUV
Sarah Frei is a 17-year-old girl from Syracuse, Utah, who was riding with friends this summer when their car was hit head-on by a drunk driver. Frei became paralyzed from the waist down and is now a double amputee. Despite this horrible and life-changing incident, she has kept a positive attitude and determination to not let this define her. Her outlook is truly incredible and has captured the country’s attention.
Frei is a huge fan of country singer, Russell Dickerson. Her high school’s cheerleading squad, Clearfield High Cheer, created a dance routine for her while she was in the hospital to her favorite song, Dickerson’s “Home Sweet.”
Dickerson took notice, and shared his support for her on social media in September, applauding her bravery and incredible recovery.
Dickerson continued to keep her in his thoughts, and teamed up with Chevrolet to surprise Frei with a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse that has been outfitted for her specific needs by BraunAbilty. BraunAbility, a manufacturing company that specializes in wheelchair accessible vehicles and lifts, customized a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse with her needs in mind — including a fully-powered and lighted ramp, maximized cabin space, and more. He surprised her during a video call earlier this week, and her reaction is priceless.
