Jet Jurgensmeyer’s Latest, “Falling Too”
If you were to write an intro for “Falling Too” before it played on the radio, what would you want listeners to know about the song?
If you’ve ever been young and falling for someone, then this song is for you! Or if you just want an awesome summer jam, then you’ll also love it!
6 Things You Don’t Know About Me:
Born and raised in Nashville, TN, entertaining since you could walk. Award-nominated actor, comedy to drama, including FOX’s Last Man Standing, Disney’s TOTS, and Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper. A natural love and passion for music, releasing your debut single “Everything Will Be Alright,” off your self-titled album in 2018. How has your art grown since your debut release?
I think my art changes as I change. My music will become more mature and grow, as I become more mature and grow. I can write about more topics and relate to more people as I go through life and experiences. I believe the same thing applies to acting. I can relate to my characters more as I experience more.
Writing trip, country and pop, to Pigeon Forge. Performing at iconic venues in Music City such as The Bluebird Café and The Listening Room. Would you say your creative process is mostly driven by spur-of-the-moment inspirations?
Absolutely! Typically whenever I write by myself, it is VERY spur-of-the-moment. A writing retreat is always amazing though, and having different people planned to write with can be helpful at times to get in the correct mindset. However, there is a nothing like an in the moment song!
Favorite travel acoustic guitar is by Klos Guitar. What makes their model so special for you?
I think the versatility is what drove me to loving it. It’s so durable and sounds great! It stays in tune no matter the weather which every musician knows, that’s the worst! It’s the perfect size for traveling and not taking up too much space in the car, and it just looks awesome. I mean, carbon fiber is the best!
Looking forward, what are your aspirations for your music, both for yourself and for the fans?
I hope that people continue to relate to my songs and the stories I tell through them. I will continue to write my own music, so that way the listeners can know what myself and my co-writers are going through in our lives. I want everyone to be able to feel like at least one of the songs was written personally for them.
Supporter of The Ryan Seacrest Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring today’s youth through entertainment and education focused initiatives. Raised money to expand creative outlets in pediatric hospitals. How important is it for children to have music during difficult times in their lives?
Music is one of the best healers! Everyone can find a song or genre that they can enjoy. RSF takes so much time, planning and preparing, for their guests to make sure the kids can have a blast and try and forget about whatever it is they’re going through that day. That’s exactly what us singer/songwriters want to do with our songs as well. It’s a perfect fit, and I absolutely love working with them.
Tennessee, Missouri, and California. Spending time on the family farm, riding horses, fishing, being outdoors. Playing sports (soccer, basketball, golf) and Kenpo Karate (purple belt). What are some bucket list trips you and your family hope to take?
I have always said that I want to go to Israel and see the Jordan River (where Jesus was baptized). I think that is definitely number one on my bucket list of trips. I love camping and being outside, so maybe going to Montana and Wyoming for a camping trip in the middle of nowhere would have to be up there as well!
Can you share 12 songs that have influenced your life and career?
These are the 12 that I am currently inspired by and listen to a lot.
“That’s Life” — Frank Sinatra
I think Frank is just so original and I love trying to embrace him in some of my writes. Even the songs that I don’t record and release have a little Sinatra in them.
“Something In The Orange” — Zach Bryan
Zach is someone who has really taken the world by storm and I love the structure of his songs. You never know where it’s going to go, so it’s pretty challenging trying to keep that in mind.
“Life Goes On” — Ed Sheeran and Luke Combs
Ed has inspired so many songs of mine that the list would be very long if I just named them off. I love how his production is so fluid and changing between songs and albums, and how his music grows with him.
“Dani California” — Red Hot Chili Peppers
RHCP are one of those bands that are so original you almost have to listen to their stuff and challenge yourself by writing like them every now and again. I love their music and am constantly trying to learn more of their stuff.
“A ROCK” — HARDY
Probably my favorite song right now is this one. HARDY is such an amazing writer and I feel like you don’t realize it until you really look into the lyrics of his songs. Every single one of them is so unique and has really inspired me to try and have double meanings and really pay attention to the meanings behind all of my songs.
“I Wrote The Book” — Morgan Wallen
I feel like if I’m going to have HARDY on here, there’s going to be a Morgan song as well. Both of them wrote this song and I have learned so much from studying them that I hope people feel the same about my music as they do with theirs.
“Scarecrow In The Garden” — Chris Stapleton
Chris Stapleton is absolutely unmatched with his songwriting and vocals. So many of his songs have inspired me that it was really difficult to just pick one here. It’s such clever writing and tells a story that people can relate to. That’s something I hope everyone feels about the songs I put out.
“Skinny Love” — Bon Iver
Bon Iver absolutely revolutionized Americana/Indi music. I really hope people can hear how he inspired me in the next album and in the next couple songs I’m planning to release.
“Feathered Indians” — Tyler Childers
Tyler’s writing is similar to Zach’s where you never know where the song is going to go. If you listen to “Lady May,” it never has a chorus, just tells a story. That is so hard to do as a writer and I absolutely love attempting it every now and again.
“Pharaoh (Let My People Go)” — Brandon Lake
I absolutely love this song and it’s really inspired a lot of the newer faith based music I’ve written. I hope to release some of that as well someday soon.
“Vienna” — Billy Joel
This is one that inspired one of the newer songs I recorded that I cannot wait for people to hear! You can absolutely hear the inspiration in the final product! I’m so excited for people to hear it!
“Actin’ Up” — Miranda Lambert
The production on this song is one of my favorites from her Palomino album. It’s so creative and you add that with the amazing writing from Miranda and you have my inspiration.
The list goes on and on! These are the ones that have influenced me the most, recently!
