Love, the one thing that heals all— Krista Angelucci’s “Find You”
Billerica, Massachusetts native. Your hometown is near Boston, a city with a rich, diverse music scene. Which venues would you take a first-time visitor to enjoy local artists?
The Boston area has some great venues, especially ones that are supportive to local artists. If you’re looking for country music, it would have to be Loretta’s in Boston. Then you might as well head over to the North End before or after the show for some amazing Italian food and maybe a Lobster Tail — One of my favorite Italian bakery items!
Singing jingles (including “Hot Pockets”) at age three. First solo at age eight at church. What was that moment or experience that made you realize music was what you wanted to pursue seriously?
Oh Gosh! Haha yes, I would sing commercial songs and Disney songs all day long. Honestly, I have always loved music. It’s always just been who I am and I don’t remember ever having a realization of wanting to pursue it, I just always knew I would.
Started in the New England country music scene, honored as the Female Entertainer for “Country Act of the Year” at the New England Music Awards. Sang the National Anthem at major sporting events, including on New Year’s Eve for the New England Patriots. Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
Yes, I have had some cool opportunities and great memories from performances up in the New England area! There are many artists that I admire, but my biggest musical influence will always be Amy Grant. Ever since I was little her music has had a huge impact on me.
But I have to also say my husband, AJ Kross. If there’s anyone with talent in almost every area of music, it is him! He inspires me daily! I always go to him for his creative input and opinions. He actually sang some of the background vocals on the new single as he has done with many of my songs in the past. It’s fun to be able to have him be a part of it all.
Nashville, Tennessee. You’ve gone from being a prominent local artist in New England to living and working in Nashville. What was that transition like, and what do you love most about being in Music City?
Before I officially moved to Nashville I made a few trips down to network, write, and record my first EP, Like It Or Not. I was very blessed to have people who gave their time to help me learn the music industry more, write, and give me advice. I will always be grateful for that! Of course it was still a big change. At that time there were not a lot of female country singers in the New England circuit and in Nashville that was the complete opposite. You learn to not compare yourself to others and know that everyone offers something special from their own talent. Nobody else can ever be you!
Follow up EP, Love Me Crazy, and the singles — “Fake Girl” and “Jungle” (the latter gained over a million views on YouTube and was featured on Nickelodeon). What is your favorite memory from these past releases?
It’s so tough to just pick one memory. They each have their own special memories and reflect different times in my life and career. I could spend hours reminiscing on each one of those. I will say when it comes to “dreams coming true” the Jungle video takes the cake! It’s funny how God works sometimes, but I really wanted to have the song “Jungle” featured in a Disney movie and He gave me my very own ‘Disney’ movie with the incredible opportunity to film that music video. Then to have the music video featured on Nickelodeon and hit over a million views was the icing on the cake!
Your new single, “Find You,” was co-written with Lance Carpenter, Brian Walsh, and Chris Ferrara years ago. Why did you choose to release it now?
I was going to release this song years ago before the release of my Love Me Crazy EP, but apparently that was not the right time, and now is! I had been wanting to release a song into people’s lives that encouraged them no matter where they are at. We’ve all felt let down at one point or another in life, in relationships, and there’s one thing that heals all. LOVE. It makes me think of the verse, “But the greatest of these is love” 1 Corinthians 13:13
Even with an important message, the song still has a fun feel and, I believe, a great follow up to my last couple singles.
What’s something you’d love your fans to know about the new release that they might not hear just by listening?
This song started because I wanted to write a song with the line “trippin’ like a hippie” haha and it just took its own form from there. I had crazy talented co- writers who helped bring it all together. And then my producer, Ryan Ross, brought it to life!
Beyond your music, you’re also a successful real estate agent. How do you balance these two demanding careers?
I will say that starting another business was tough at first. It took more time and energy than I was expecting but I’m in a good spot to find time for both. I have a great business partner who helps me run our HomesNash team and that is super helpful. Music will always be my number one passion/calling in life, but I do enjoy helping others find their dream homes.
What’s next for you after this release — any sneak peeks into future plans?
Future plans would be to release more music and continue to use it to put into people’s lives!
