Karissa Ella’s youthful and soulful style is a breath of fresh air in today’s world of country music. Inspired by the likes of Shania Twain, Gretchen Wilson, Garth Brooks and Carrie Underwood, her music and performances attract people of all ages.

“Professional Napper”. How have you been passing the days during the quarantine?

Quarantine was fun at first as it involved many movie nights and comfy pajamas. However, that got old very quickly! My “Professional Napper” reputation has both prepared and failed me for quarantine. I love naps, but I am trying my best to keep myself busy and productive during this time!

No matter how hard you try, you can’t dim our light!!” What inspired the new song “Girls”?

My upcoming single, “Girls,” I wrote with Kalsey Kulyk and Alex Seier! One of my favorite lines in my song, “Girls” is “Can’t dim a disco ball while it’s trying to light up the world, girls just wanna be girls!” The whole song is about how girls will be girls, so just let them do their thing! We are all unique, strong, and beautiful! I hope this fun song encourages women to stay true to themselves and to never let anyone dim their light! Be YOU! YOU can take over the world!

With most concerts indefinitely postponed, how will you be connecting with fans to share your new music?

I never pictured a world without live music. Music has been my whole life, whether I am performing or enjoying the show, I can’t live without it! So, it has certainly been a huge adjustment for us all. Luckily, we have other outlets like social media and live stream services where I can still connect and play music for my fans. It is different, but I choose to make the best of it!

Did see you will be opening with Alex Seier and Blue Collar 40 for Neal McCoy at the Features Fest XIII outdoor concert next month. Will this be your first concert since March?

Yes! Features Fest XIII has worked tirelessly to keep the show going. They have done so much to make sure this show is safe for fans and musicians. It will be sad not meeting and hugging country music fans, but just being back up on that stage will feel great! I cannot wait to hit the stage in Wisconsin this September!

TikTok. Any funny stories behind the making of your videos?

All I want to say is that a lot of blood, sweat, and tears go into my TikTok videos. I am in no way a video editor, so it takes me a while to piece together footage. I love the app and think it is hilarious! But just know when you see my videos… I tried really hard! Haha Just trying to keep up with the “kids” on the app!

Also saw your post that you’ve been spending time learning guitar. How’s it going?

My guitar playing is coming slowly but surely! I am very picky, so you will not see my playing until I am 100% confident! I am excited for the day where I can play for myself, but for now, I will leave it to the professionals!

2020. What are some of the positives you have experienced at home during the pandemic?

I had high hopes and goals for 2020; I think we all did! Since COVID-19 kind of took over the year, it gave me time to reflect, plan, and prepare. I hope to enter 2021 with new music and new content! During this time, I have been writing, recording, and more! I am trying to make the most of this downtime and be as productive as I can!

Saw your post about your quarantine reading nook. Any recommendations besides Gabby Bernstein’s “The Universe Has Your Back!”?

Reading has been a huge crutch for me during my quarantine. I think it’s because I felt like I had the time to sit down and read! I love Gabby Bernstein’s “The Universe Has Your Back!” I found it to be very spiritual, motivating, and inspiring. I moved on to a new book called, “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert. I highly recommend this book as well! It has helped me with working out some fears and having the confidence to go after my dreams!

#Vacay. Have you been able to explore outdoor Nashville this summer?

During my quarantine summer, I have taken countless walks and long drives around Nashville. I also enjoy hiking at Radnor Lake because of the beautiful scenery. I try to get out of the house at least once a day just to get some sunlight!

I have “Blossom” on repeat — love how upbeat the songs are! What other songs are on your 2020 summer playlist?

Well, thank you so much for listening! I have been listening to all the new music from artists like Kelsea Ballerini, Taylor Swift, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Cassadee Pope, and many independent artists like myself!
